7. Health Insurance Medical treatment in most western countries is very expensive, often several times over what the same treatment would cost in India. Students, especially from India and other countries, invariably will find it difficult to pay for medical emergencies and therefore must buy Medical Insurance. Students can choose to insure themselves either in India or abroad. Student insurance policies cost $500-900 per year in the USA. The cheapest worldwide cover offered by Indian insurers is $168-234 for one year. The insurance policies offered by universities abroad generally provide only medical coverage; non-medical risks are not insured. Which is why most students prefer to buy coverage in India itself. The following companies in India offer good Student Health Insurance policies and these can be bought on line:
· Gholamandalam. · IGIGI Lombard. · Tata AIG · Bajaj Allianz.
You should take out a suitable Health insurance policy before you proceed to the USA.
8. Accommodations American Flying Academy is near many rental communities that rent at an average of $1,000/month. Some students buy a bicycle for commuting or purchase a car for an average of $1,000. All are acceptable forms of transportation.
